Ama Pomaa Boateng leads Delegation to Explore Emergency Management Technologies in India

A Ghanaian delegation, led by the Deputy Minister of Communications and Digitalization, Hon. Ama Pomaa Boateng, is in India for a capacity-building workshop on Emergency Management Technologies and facilitating Knowledge Capacity Transfer.

The delegation, made up of experts from NADMO, National Communications Authority, the Cyber Security Authority, Ghana Meteorological Authority, and the Internet Society, will also embark on a knowledge exchange and technology transfer for capacity strengthening on early warning systems for emergency preparedness and response.

In a post on the Deputy Minister’s Facebook page, Hon. Ama Pomaa Boateng stated that she anticipates that the delegation will gain valuable insights to address the technological gaps in Ghana’s emergency response capabilities.

“ Last Monday , I led the Ghanaian delegation group of experts from NADMO, National Communications Authority, Cyber Security Authority, Ghana Meteorological Authority, Internet Society for a knowledge exchange and technology transfer for capacity strengthening on early warning systems for emergency preparedness and response. From the 15th to 24th November 2023, our discussions and interests in India would be on Data dissemination of hydro-meteorological data dissemination, dam safety rehabilitation programs, tours of state-of-the-art emergency operations centers , common alerting protocol-based integrated alert system framing of policy for disaster management for good governance, interaction on the role for children and youth engagement for climate change adaption, establishment and use of remote sending technologies and products in disaster management, interaction on e-governance products for disaster management, digital elevation models for flood zonation models,” she posted.

She commended the hosting governmental agency Ministry of Home Affairs , Government of India, National Disaster Management Authority, Ministry of Jall Shakti Central Water Commission, and all the other related bodies for giving delegation the opportunity deliberate with the Ghana team on how to build a resilient digital infrastructure for emergency response preparedness and services.

Collaborating with the NADMO team and other agencies, we anticipate gaining valuable insights to address the technological gaps in Ghana’s emergency response capabilities.
