Tamale Cook-A-Thon: Medical Team Allays Fitness Fears Over Chef Failatu

The medical team at the Cook-A-Thon event in Tamale has assured that Chef Failatu Abdul-Razak is doing well and is in good shape.

According to the team, she is examined every now and then to ensure she is fit.

Today is day 9 of the Cook-A-Thon, and Chef Failatu has been described as the only woman standing in her attempt to set an unbreakable record for the longest cooking marathon in the Guinness World Record attempt.

However, some persons have expressed concerns about the health of the Chef and whether or not the stress will have any effect on her.

But during an interview with GBC News, Medical Team Lead, Dr. Valentine Akwulpwa, who is a Senior Physician Specialist at the Tamale Teaching Hospital, said Chef Failatu is fit as a fiddle as she is being monitored every now and then.

He indicated that the medical team consists of diverse medical spheres, including physicians, cardiologists, neurologists, nutritionists, physiotherapists, and psychologists, among others.

Dr. Akwulpwa said Chef Failatu’s is in good hands.

Dr. Akwulpwa highlighted some of the checks being carried out on Chef Failatu whenever she takes a break.

Reacting to concerns raised by people that Chef Failatu might experience health challenges after the event, Dr. Akwulpwa assured that the Chef is in a better state.

He also emphasised that she would be monitored for some time after the event.

Attendance for today was a bit low following the official reopening of schools and other work.

However, the numbers increased after 5 p.m., and currently, the venue is full. Chef Failatu has covered 208 hours and 47 minutes as of the time of filing this report.
