My absence from Parliament was due to a miscarriage – Adwoa Safo

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has disclosed that her prolonged absence from Parliament was as a result of losing her child.

The MP disclosed that she was pregnant during her previous visit to the market before the 2020 elections, but things did not go as planned.

“If you can recall in 2020 when I came here during campaign time, I was not in jeans and ‘camboo’ like I am today, I was in maternity clothing when I alighted from the car. It is the prayer of every pregnant woman that she gives birth safely to a healthy baby, but God does as he pleases. And in everything we give thanks to him,” she said.

She added, “Your sister, your MP, your child when I travelled to the United States of America by God’s grace, he saved my life but I didn’t get what I went for. All the same, it is by the grace of God that I’m alive”.

She further disclosed that, even after losing her unborn child, she also had to take care of her sick son.

“It was my intention to leave parliamentary works just for a brief moment to take care of my family, but I did not know it will take longer than expected”, she emphasized.

The MP who apologized to the New Patriotic Party, especially President Akufo-Addo, early this year once again pleaded with her constituency members to forgive her and give her the mandate to be elected as the Dome Kwabenya parliamentary candidate for the 2024 elections.
